Product Care & Help Guide

Product Care & Help Guide

Bathroom ware, ceramics, and brassware mixer taps endure constant contact with pressurized water, limescale minerals, soaps, and cleaning chemicals.

This guide offers practical recommendations to help you maintain the appearance, structural integrity, and longevity of your bathroom fixtures. Please note: Materials, water pressure tolerances, and installation requirements vary between models. Specific instructions supplied with your product always take priority over the general advice in this guide.

1. Brassware, Taps & Shower Maintenance

Everyday Wiping

After daily use, wipe taps, shower valves, and chrome fittings with a soft, clean microfibre cloth. Allowing water to air-dry on brassware causes limescale and mineral deposits that can dull reflective surfaces over time.

Cleaning Solutions

Use warm water with a mild, pH-neutral washing-up liquid. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and buff dry immediately using a soft dry cloth. For aerator nozzles, unscrew periodically and rinse away debris or limescale build-up.

What to Avoid

  • Never use abrasive pads: Wire wool, scouring pads, and abrasive cleaning powders will permanently scratch electroplated and powder-coated finishes (especially matte black and brushed brass).
  • Avoid harsh chemical descalers: Bleach, concentrated hydrochloric acids, oven cleaners, and toilet bowl cleaners must be kept away from brassware. Chemical splashes cause irreversible pitting and finish degradation.

2. Ceramic Sanitaryware & Basins

Routine Hygiene

Clean vitreous china basins and toilets regularly with non-abrasive cream cleaners or standard bathroom sprays. Use a soft sponge to preserve the ceramic glaze.

Thermal & Impact Care

Avoid dropping heavy perfume bottles, grooming tools, or hard objects into ceramic basins to prevent chipping the glazed surface. Do not pour boiling water directly into cold ceramic bowls to avoid thermal shock fractures.

3. Installation & Pre-Fitting Checks

  • Water Pressure Check: Verify your domestic water system pressure (gravity fed, unvented cylinder, or combi-boiler) matches the minimum operating bar rating specified on the product page before fitting.
  • Pipe Flushing: Before installing new mixer taps or thermostatic shower cartridges, ensure your plumber thoroughly flushes existing pipework to clear construction grit, solder particles, and debris that could score ceramic disc valves.
  • Professional Installation: All permanent plumbing connections should be installed by a qualified plumber in accordance with UK Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations.
